Just saw on Orient’s website that they are releasing a new GMT model in November 2010 that is capable of showing the time in three different timezones via the 24 hour bezel and the GMT hand.
This watch is powered by the 40P50 automatic movement which comes with hand winding and stop second features.
The diameter of the watch is 44mm according to the specs.
Release date: 13th Nov 2010

Yeoman’s comments:
1. Black dial looks more legible than the white dial version.
2. The shape of the case reminds me of this Seiko Alpinist.

Hi ya Yeoman
Firstly, I have thoroughly enjoyed your website over the years and found the information very useful, many thanks.
Secondly, does the new Orient’s GMT crown screw down or is it friction based and what do you think the price will be?
Cheers
London
Hi Matthew,
Thanks for following my blog over the years.
At this point, I do not know if the crown screws down or not as it is not stated on Orient’s website. The answer will be know in November when the watch is released.
Best regards,
Thomas
Black dial with gun metal case looks nice but the date magnifier doesn’t feel right .. btw, can the GMT hand be set independently or need to use the outer bezel to track the time?
Thanks.
I believe the GMT hand can be set independently.
