Hi Yeoman, I’ve noticed that most Japanese movements (example as above) don’t have the finishing touches common among Swiss automatics (cote de geneva stripes and other burnishings). Is it to keep the prices affordable?

Yes, this is a low cost watch and the movement in it is actually a bare minimum one. It has minimal finishing and does not hack nor handwind.

Japanese watches like Grand Seiko’s and Credor’s do have well finished movements.
